Sharing the Gift of Food in the Month of Love

In the true spirit of love and generosity, Kweku Opare Anobah, a dedicated member of the Home Gardening Ghana community, has announced the sharing of two (2) suckers of Apem Plantain this Valentine season, on February 14th.

What makes this gesture even more special is the remarkable performance of the mother plant. The Apem Plantain produced over 200 fingers, a clear testimony to what good care, patience, and commitment to home gardening can achieve.

Kweku’s offer is open to only two gardeners within the community who are ready to plant, nurture, and multiply this gift. His confidence is rooted in experience—those who received plantain suckers from him two years ago are now enjoying their own harvests, a powerful example of how sharing planting materials today leads to food security tomorrow.

This act goes beyond giving out suckers; it reflects the values that define the Home Gardening Ghana movement—knowledge sharing, mutual support, and sustainable food production at the household level.

As we celebrate love this February, this initiative reminds us that one of the greatest expressions of love is helping someone grow their own food. A single sucker planted today can feed families for years to come.

Plant something. Share something. Grow together. 🌱
